The World Like a Blinking Mozaic

“Tonight the scent of the star is too strong”
Someone nearby whispers
And suddenly my body leaves earth
Lost in the galaxy        reaching a point to look down upon earth
Fearing eternity        in silent pressure
Where the complexion of darkness rise to the surface.
The body will diffuse

Yes—before, I was whole
That was perhaps   the embodiment of memory
As long as life and death are equal     I can understand death
In the rocking bed we call the body
The tired soul should will        sleep

Translation from Japanese by Sho Sugita Becraft

Body I Left Behind

If the thing you call —
a flickering array of cells —
is what I answer to,
I am still myself

I have no remaining hold
of the body I left behind long ago;
and yet, there is
something that feels almost familiar
